Meet The Team

General Manager

Vince Gagner

General Manager - CAER, IEC, SLEA

For the past 30 years, Vince has dedicated his career to managing risks posed to workers, communities and our environment. Vince was born in Lambton County but has worked across Canada and abroad as a consultant, regulator, researcher/instructor, project manager, and manager of multidisciplinary teams. Collaboration on various committees allowed him to learn from many exceptional people focused on achieving resolution to challenging and complex issues. Vince currently works with community members, industrial sites, governments, contractors, and building trades across Sarnia-Lambton. Outside of work, he enjoys time with family, friends, and volunteering with community-based organizations.

Assurance Processes

Glenda Worsley

Assurance Processes Manager

Glenda has been part of the IEC team since Jan 2019. She has a B.E. Sc degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and has completed SGS Lead Auditor training to support her in her current role.  Glenda’s experience ranges from working in Technical Service, Quality & Process Engineering and more recently in Safety at the local refineries.  Her passion for safety, developed over 7 years in that role, brought her to the IEC in her current role as Manager of Assurance Processes heading up our Safety Management Assessment audit program. When she is not in the office Glenda enjoys spending time with family and friends and golfing during the fair-weather months.

Shaun Bisson

Communications & Engagement Coordinator

Shaun brings a wealth off knowledge in communications to the Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability thanks to a career spent in a variety of communications and public relations roles. A native of Sarnia, Shaun holds degrees in English Language and Literature and Broadcast Journalism and has previously held positions with The Sarnia Observer, Owen Sound Attack, and Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership. When not in the office, Shaun enjoys spending time with his wife and twin daughters and can often be found on the nearest golf course.

Amy Fuerth

Program Development Coordinator

Amy has been with the IEC since February of 2017 within Program Development.  She holds degrees in English and Education and has years of experience in instruction and training through various positions before joining the IEC team.  Driven by a desire to keep our area healthy, informed, and safe, she takes pride in providing a personable approach when working with Subject Matter Expert Teams across the Sarnia-Lambton area.  As the Program Development Coordinator, her goals include developing relevant and appropriate health and safety content that meets the needs of our partners.

Steve Butterfield

Instruction & Accreditation Manager

Steve Butterfield has worked in local industry in various capacities over the years. The work experience he has gained allowed him to transition those learned skills into a Safety Instructor Position with the IEC in 2015. In Steve’s current role he manages the IEC’s Team of Instructor’s, helping develop their facilitation skills in preparation for accreditation of the various courses the IEC offers. His goals with the IEC continue to focus on improvement of the Safety Culture within the Sarnia-Lambton workforce through high quality safety and compliance training. When not in the office, Steve enjoys playing music and spending time with family and friends.

Steve Baker

Instructional Specialist

With the IEC for three years, Steve was born and raised in Sarnia which has given him a strong understanding of the area’s Health and Safety Culture. Prior to joining the IEC, Steve had a 25+ year career in health care, specializing in Occupation Health and Disease. When not at work, Steve enjoys volunteering his time with area sports, and is heavily involved in local hockey and lacrosse.

Jim Bradshaw

Instructional Specialist

With the IEC for 5 years, Jim brings a wealth of knowledge to the team that is immensely valuable in the protection of young workers. Born and raised in Brights Grove, he started his apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker in 1976.  Over time, he progressed into various leadership roles within his trade and in 1991, he was elected as President of SMWIA Local 539.  In 1997, he became a Business Manager with direct responsibility for his members and as a regional leader in Sarnia-Lambton, and in 2001, he was elected by his peers as President of the Sarnia Building and Construction Trades Council where he worked for over 15 years to understand and build strong relationships – one of which was with the IEC. When not at work, Jim enjoys time with family and friends camping and riding his Harley.

Ron Hollins

Instructional Specialist

A lifelong resident of Sarnia, Ron worked at ARLANXEO as a Process Operator for fourteen years and issued safe work permits during unit maintenance and turnaround activities. He then joined the Site Health and Safety Department, spending many years in the field monitoring day to day health and safety activities, auditing performance, and training employees. During that time he also held the role of Union Executive, HSE Safety Representative, and worker co-chair of the Joint H&S Committee. Ron also obtained an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate from Ryerson University and has been able to share past work experiences with the course participants and colleagues. He is a part time Instructor at the IEC for the past seven years.

Mackenzie Ravensberg

Instructional Specialist

Mackenzie has been a part of the IEC team since July of 2018. Mackenzie is one of several Safety Instructors at the IEC and brings great passion for what she does. Her goal with the IEC is to contribute towards “Goal Zero” and help ensure everyone makes it home at the end of the day in the same condition that they showed up. When Mackenzie isn’t in the office you can often find her spending time with friends, family, and her pets.

Paul Spearman

Instructional Specialist

Paul had a 40 year career at Imperial Oil that provided him the opportunity to do many jobs, including spending 15 years being in the Training Department. Paul brings a wealth of knowledge to the IEC where he enjoys meeting many workers with a wide range of experiences and hearing first hand their opinions and ideas on how we all can work safe. Outside of work, Paul enjoys spending time with his family, a host of outdoor activities and has spent the last 35 years officiating football.

Alysa Schroeter

Instructional & Assurance Specialist

Alysa has been with the IEC as a member of the Instructional team since September 2019. She holds a Bachelors degree in Management and Organizational Studies from the University of Western Ontario and brings with her several years of field experience communicating and promoting Responsible Care programs and initiatives within the petrochemical industry. One of her passions includes educating others about the value of taking responsibility for their health, safety, and well-being and providing them with the information and resources to lead healthier lives. Alysa is looking forward to expanding her role into Assurance Processes by supporting our Safety Management Assessment audit program, where she will have the opportunity to further promote continuous improvements in health and safety.

Pamela Knight

Business Processes Manager

Pamela joined the team as an Accounting Coordinator in March, 2019.  Pamela brings a career in financial services to her role with BASES where she oversees all financial matters and contracts, and has worked as an Investment Associate while having a formal education in Administration and Accounting. Pamela practices a healthy lifestyle while running, biking and circuit training, and also enjoys watching and supporting her children play hockey, soccer and other activities, along with taking advantage of the local beaches and nature trails.

Megan Marsland

Business Process Specialist

Megan joined the IEC team as an Executive Assistant in March, 2020. She has an honours Bachelor of Commerce degree in Human Resources Management from Fanshawe College and is working toward obtaining the CHRL designation. Her role is dedicated to providing support/assistance to the General Manager, IEC partners, members, and staff. Megan came to the IEC from St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital where she held the position of HR and Payroll Assistant. When she is not in the office, Megan enjoys spending time with family, exploring nature with her dogs, and completing DIY projects at home.

Debbie Crossman

Registration & Administration Associate

Debbie is a lifelong resident of Sarnia and has been with the IEC for more then 25 years, where she has also served on the Joint Health and Safety team. Debbie has a diploma in Business specializing in Marketing from Lambton College and brings a wealth of knowledge to the registration and team at the IEC. In her spare time Debbie enjoys spending time with friends and family

Kim McKee

Registration & Administration Associate

Kim is one of the IEC’s longest serving employees, having been with the organization for more than 25 years. Prior to joining the IEC, Kim completed the Medical Secretary program at Lambton College and spent time working at a local physician’s foccie. When not at the IEC, Kim enjoys spending time with her family.

Johnie Kerr

COVID-19 Control Specialist

Johnie is a graduate of the local JobPath program.  He joined the Industrial Educational Cooperative as our COVID-19 Control Specialist.  His important role includes receiving visitors and verifying compliance with IEC mask and physical distancing requirements.  He is also quick to offer hand sanitizer and positive reinforcement to people for being COVID safe.  He is responsible for ensuring all high touch surfaces are cleaned and disinfected regularly.  The work that Johnie does here is a critical part of the overall regional COVID control strategy to keep our workers safe.  Outside of work, Johnie is an avid reader, enjoys listening to music, connects with friends through online gaming, and spends time cooking with family.

Terry Wilson

CAER Traffic Box Maintenance Lead

Terry joins the CAER Team after a long career with ARLANXEO in the operations and fire fighting fields. With CAER, Terry is responsible for the diligent maintenance of 40 CAER Traffic Boxes across Lambton County, including inspection, testing of lights, box repair, and ensuring safe access for local and regional Police Officers.

Annik White

RWDI - Senior Project Manager

Annik is an air quality specialist focused on developing, maintaining and auditing environmental management systems. Annik has extensive experience with Greenhouse Gas Quantification and Verification, and is one of RWDI’s Lead GHG Verifier.  RWDI clients benefit from Annik’s deep knowledge of environmental regulations and reporting regimes, and from her years of experience executing pollution-control and compliance initiatives. From dispersion modelling to emissions reporting to toxics reduction planning, Annik’s capabilities help RWDI clients understand and manage their environmental impact. In her spare time Annik enjoys time with her daughter, nature, traveling and learning to play hockey.

Nathan VanBelois

RWDI - Senior Scientist

A senior scientist with RWDI, Nathan maintains the air and water monitoring network for the Sarnia-Lambton Environmental Association (SLEA). He has been running this network and equipment since 2008. With a strong background in instrumentation, Nathan possesses more than 13 years of experience maintaining and repairing environmental and communications equipment. This work has given him extensive field experience with wind instruments, measurement, and the analysis of many air and water pollutants. Our customers benefit from Nathan’s can-do attitude and willingness to tackle almost any issue. He is energetic and charismatic, with a proven ability to create great team dynamics. Nathan’s areas of expertise include instrumentation setup, maintenance and repairs, network maintenance for communication equipment, and the calibration of air & water monitoring equipment.

Alexander Tokarewicz

RWDI - Junior Scientist

A junior scientist with RWDI,  Alexander possesses three years of experience maintaining the air and water monitoring network for the Sarnia-Lambton Environmental Association (SLEA), along with other ambient air and water projects throughout the Sarnia area. His key responsibilities involve instrument calibration, troubling-shooting, and data review. Alexander can often be found working in the field executing emissions monitoring projects. His areas of expertise include the setup and operation of air-monitoring equipment, ambient air quality monitoring, and environmental compliance and monitoring.
